โดยเฉพาะ "หนี้สิน" อันเป็นทุกข์หยาบนั้น พุทธบริษัทต้องกำจัดให้สิ้น จึงจะสามารถเข้ามาบวชเป็นพระภิกษุได้ ผู้ที่มี "หนี้สิน" จะไม่สามารถบวชในพุทธศาสนาได้ เพราะจะไม่สามารถปฏิบัติธรรม เนื่องจากเจ้าหนี้ตามมาทวง หรือ ห่วงกังวล จนไม่อาจมีสมาธิปฏิบัติธรรมได้
